The Ronaldo S. A. Lameira Ramos school organized a round table discussion with the mothers of the inclusion students on Wednesday 13th, in order to pay tribute to them for all their efforts in caring for their children.
International Women's Day is a commemorative date that was made official by the UN in the 1970s. This date symbolizes the historical struggle of women to have their conditions equivalent to those of men. Initially, this date referred to the demand for equal pay, but today it symbolizes women's struggle not only against unequal pay, but also against sexism and violence.
In view of such an important day, the inclusion students produced pens in the shape of flowers, along with a “Best Woman in the World” certificate. For school principal Carla Catelli, this day deserves special attention for all the mothers who struggle every day “All women are important, but these mothers go through many more difficulties in their lives, so they deserve the tribute”.
The project caused emotion when the honored mothers spoke. Luciana, mother of Fernanda 9ºB, emphasized the importance of the meeting “This month I took part in the ‘Women's Day’ event at the school. I was very happy, because this meeting allowed me to get to know the school better, the mothers of special children, and with a lot of affection, we were welcomed with a little gift made by our son and given a video of them putting it together. It was very moving and like a hug in our hearts. We need more moments like this, life is full of “no's” and when a moment like this comes along, we have more strength to continue our journey for our children. I'd like to thank the whole team involved.”
The school management and community educator Simone Mota hold frequent meetings with family members and students, providing integration between the school and the family, involving the school community. Community educator Simone Mota emphasizes: “The determination of the mothers and the challenges they face on a daily basis must be appreciated, because we know that the journey is not easy. That's why we always try to welcome and accompany the families so that we can give special support to these warrior mothers.”
Another action that took place at the school was that of the 5th grade D students, who made pamphlets to raise awareness about women's rights, with the aim of informing and combating violence against women. Valuing women's rights must be present in the lives of all students, with the collective participation of the whole school.
In addition to all the tributes, the 9th graders had a special lesson with Ronaldo's Luluzinhas, with a talk about the role of women in the school environment and in society, where they took part in a quiz on International Women's Day. In addition to the activities, the students received a candy with a message about the importance of women in society.
International Women's Day is not simply a day to pay trivial homage to women, but rather an invitation to reflect on how our society treats them. This reflection applies to the emotional, family and social spheres.
