Pi Day
Find out all about this commemorative date!
By Alessandro Muniz Iago dos Santos

Pi Day is a commemorative date that celebrates Pi (π). It was created in 1988 by Larry Shaw at the San Francisco Exploratory Museum as a way of paying homage to Pi.
The date is celebrated on March 14 (3/14), because 3.14 is the most famous approximation of Pi.
In English, the pronunciation of pi is the same as the word “pie”. That's why people eat pie on Pi Day.
But as the constant is closely related to circumference measurements, you can eat any dishes made in a round shape.
CURIOSITIES:
Pi Day is also the day Albert Einstein was born and the day Stephen Hawking died, making the date more celebrated in science.
There are other dates commemorating Pi, as follows:
April 26 (25 in leap years): The Earth completes two radians of its orbit on this day, so the orbit divided by the distance is equal to Pi;
July 22: This is the notation for the approximation of Pi, 22/7;
November 10 (9 in leap years): It is the 314th day of the year.
